much more than just stephen's solo debut, "except for the birds" set out to capture a sense of community and partnership by involving some of stephen's closest friends, who also happened to be incredibly talented musicians. recorded over the period between february 2006 and february 2007 at the beautiful black lodge studios in eudora, ks by nick day, this collection of songs is a sweeping set of soundscapes skipping from genre to genre while remaining true to the core of stephen's artistic voice and showcasing the exploits of some very accomplished players.
